Chamiza Elementary School

After designing the main colors of the school, VHGA allowed the school children to choose the trim colors. Choosing to keep the building in tune with its existing surroundings, the children chose the existing colors from the mesa. VHGA's goal was to create a learning space that was personal, non-threatening, light and educationally stimulating. One of the unique ways of achieving this was to color coordinate all of the hallways to create a "neighborhood" of classrooms. Defined wall display areas running along the hallways feature student projects. VHGA also designed a media center, computer rooms, cafeteria, gymnasium, playgrounds, classrooms and administrative space for this innovative learning center.
